The special event of Apple in September has been and gone and we didn’t get to see iPhones as expected. But we got to see a new iPad Air and the tablet is pretty impressive. It’s so impressive it might be better than the 11-inch iPad Pro. The brand new iPad Air will be compared to the previous model and to the current 11-inch iPad Pro and makes reading interesting.
The screen size is the main thing that immediately jumps out. The new iPad Air comes with a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display which makes it look very similar to the iPad Pro. Its screen is only slightly smaller and of course, there’s no Home button. There’s no Face ID either, with Touch ID making the move to the Top button instead.
As far as processing power is concerned, the iPad Air wins over the iPad Pro with the new Apple A14 Bionic chip. However, it does not fit into the camera, missing the ultra-wide 10-megapixel camera that the iPad Pro provides. However, here’s a LiDAR Scanner that was not be offered by the older iPad Air.
Looking at the fact that the new iPad Air is selling for the same $599 as the old iPad Air, it’s clear that this is a hell of a machine. The arrival of USB-C also closes the iPad Pro gap. Well, who’s going to buy the iPad Pro at this point?
